In a commanding performance Thursday evening, the St. Louis fifth-grade boys basketball team took on the St. Lawrence Panthers. The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead, scoring 12 points in the first quarter and adding another seven in the second, while holding the Panthers to just four points in the first and none in the second.
The Panthers rallied in the third quarter, narrowing the Cardinals’ lead by scoring 11 points to cut the deficit in half. But the Cardinals responded decisively, adding 15 more points in the second half to secure the win 34-15.
Louie Candelot led the team with 16 points, while Jordan Brelage contributed 11. John Shaw and Nick Siefert rounded out the scoring with 4 and 3 points, respectively. With the win, the Cardinals advanced their record to 2-0.
