5th Grade Cardinals Dominate Laurel

Batesville, IN — The St. Louis fifth-grade boys basketball team delivered an unforgettable performance on Tuesday evening, throttling the Laurel Yellow Jackets with a commanding 31-1 victory that showcased their defensive prowess and offensive efficiency.

From the opening whistle, the Cardinals seized control of the game. St. Louis outscored Laurel 11-1 in the first quarter, quickly establishing a commanding lead. Their defense, led by a relentless 2-3 zone, stifled Laurel’s offense at every turn. The Yellow Jackets managed only a single point throughout the entire game—coming on a free throw in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Cardinals added another five points to their lead, making it a 16-1 advantage. St. Louis didn’t let up in the second half, continuing to apply pressure and finishing strong with an additional 17 points to seal the win.

Leading the charge offensively was JJ Hountz, who finished with a game-high 17 points. Lucas Werner contributed 8 points, while Ethan Dierckman added 4. Caleb Hardebeck and Luke Enneking chipped in 2 points each, rounding out the scoring for the dominant Cardinals.

The Cardinals will play at St Lawrence on Thursday evening.
