The Reds have activated infielders Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Matt McLain from the 60-day injured list. To make room for them on the 40-man roster, the team designated left handed pitcher Brandon Leibrandt and infielder Amed Rosario for assignment.
The New York Yankees avoided elimination and being swept in the World Series by clobbering the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-4 in Game 4 last night in the Bronx. New York was leading 6-4 going into the eighth inning when they erupted for five runs in the bottom of the frame to put the contest away. Game 5 is tonight in the Big Apple.
ESPN is reporting the Colts have benched quarterback Anthony Richardson in favor of veteran journeyman Joe Flacco. The benching comes days after Richardson asked to come out of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans for one play because – as he later told reporters – he was tired. Richardson was the fourth overall pick in last year’s NFL draft. Flacco will be at the controls when Indianapolis visits the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night.
