OA Boys Soccer Advances to the Regionals

The OA boys soccer team defeated Shawe Memorial 3-1 on Thursday, October 17 to advance to the regional final. The Twisters got on the board early when a free kick by Zack Hoff went through the fingers of the Hilltoppers keeper and into the goal. Hoff would score again midway through the first half on a header off a pass from Adam Weber.  Shawe’s lone score came on a penalty kick by Rodrigo Reyes-Miranda with 5:15 to play in the half.

In the second half, both teams played strong defense. Connor Holder would make a breakaway at 22:01 for the final score of the game. OA out-shot Shawe 21-17 for the game. Isaiah Waggoner recorded 9 saves for the Twisters.

The Twisters face Greenwood Christian on Saturday, October 18 at 4 pm at Knightstown for the regional championship. The girls’ soccer team plays on the same field at 1 pm Saturday against Heritage Christian.
