Leona G. (Rouse) Purcell, 103, of Milan passed away Friday, October 18, 2024, at Ripley Crossing. Leona was born on Sunday, October 24, 1920, in Shelby County, Indiana; daughter of Clarence and Rhoda (Worrell) Rouse. Leona married the love of her life, Mitchell Purcell, on March 12, 1938, and he preceded her on February 8, 1991. Leona was a member of the Milan Senior Citizens and was very active in many women’s groups through the Delaware United Methodist Church where she had been a member since November 16, 1958. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and cooking for church events. Leona was known to be a loving and caring friend to many.
Leona will be missed by her brother-in-law Rufus (Sue) Purcell of Milan; special friend Lorraine Workman of Osgood; special niece Andi Kinman of Dillsboro; and many other nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband Mitchell Purcell and several brothers and sisters.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Leona from 10:00-11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given in honor of Leona to the Ripley Crossing Activity Fund.
