Janilee Ann Beck

With her family present, Janilee Ann Beck went to be with the Lord, on October 14, 2024, and has left a huge void for those that she loved dearly.

Known by many as “Jan”, was born on November 9, 1950, in Hamilton, OH to Earl and Fay (nee Blasdel) Nixon.  She grew up at her family’s farm on Mt Pleasant Road, near Logan, Indiana. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers, cousins, neighbors, and local church family.

Jan was devoted to family, community, and God. With a firm belief that even the simplest acts of kindness could have a profound effect and spreading as much joy as possible to others was her greatest blessing.  She was a member and actively attended Dearborn Hills Church. Jan had various jobs over the years from church daycare cook, worked the snack bar at Perfect North Slopes, a cashier at Murphy’s, which turned into Ames, and most notably is working at the Village Pharmacy. There she met many wonderful friends who became her extended family, especially her boss Jeff Biddle. Jan also helped out during election time at the Polls to help the community.

Janilee and her husband, William “Bill” Charles Beck, were married on July 3rd, 1982, in the backyard of their home on Mt Pleasant Road. This union formed a family with five children, Dawn (Rob) Caseltine, Elizabeth (Dave) Perkins, Paula Beck Stevens (Marvin), Karen Beck Scalf, and Stacy Beck. The family continued to grow and also produced 15 grandchildren: Kayla (Trent) Luhrsen, Kelsey, Kristen (Eric Nicolaides) Stevens, Shelby (Jacob Caldwell), & Logan Scalf, Bobbi, JC (Kristian), Andy, Hope, & Nathan Caseltine, Dylan (Jennifer), & Adam Beck (Morgan), Erik (Gracie), Riley, and Trevor Perkins. Jan and Bill also have 18 great-grandchildren.

Jan also is survived by her brothers: Gerald (Dorothy) Nixon and Glenn Nixon, her brother-in-law, Tom (Debbie) Beck, her sister-in-law, Joanne Beck, and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Loren Eugene Nixon; her In-law’s: Donald and Audrey (nee Callaway) Beck; brothers-in-law: Ron (Vicky) and David Beck; sisters-in-law: Thelma Beck Rupp, and Donna Beck; and her daughters’ paternal grandparents, that were dear friends: Dewey and Pauline Mains.

Visitation will be held at Dearborn Hills Church, 25365 Stateline Road, Bright, IN, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10 am until the time of the funeral at 12 pm, with Pastor Bob Land officiating. Following the service, graveside services will be at Gibson Cemetery. The procession will go past the family farm on Mount Pleasant Road.

Memorials are requested to Dearborn Hills Church, Bright Fire & EMS, or St. Joseph American Legion Post 464 in St. Leon. A funeral home representative will be available to accept memorials on the day of the visitation.  If unable to attend memorials may be made out to the charity of choice and mailed to Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201.
