Switzerland County knocked off Batesville 1-Nil in a boys’ soccer sectional match heard last night on WRBI. The Pacers’ Ezra Dayadharum scored the lone goal of the game at 31:32 in the first half. Also, last night at the South Dearborn sectional, it was Madison over Franklin County 8-3.

In other boys’ sectional action last night, Greensburg clobbered Rushville 9-Nil; Jac-Cen-Del got past Rising Sun 3-2, and it was Milan over South Ripley 2-1.

Coming up tonight, Oldenburg Academy battles Switzerland County in girls’ soccer sectional action at Rising Sun. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. on WRBI with Terrance Arney on the call.

The Reds formally introduced Terry Francona as their new manager yesterday. Francona agreed to a three-year contract with a club option for 2028.

In the major league baseball playoffs, Detroit blanked Cleveland 3-0. And it was Kansas City over the New York Yankees 4-2. Both of those American League Division Series are knotted at one game apiece.

In NFL news, Bengals cornerback Dax Hill will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Hill suffered the injury in Cincinnati’s 41-38 overtime loss to Baltimore on Sunday.

On Monday Night Football, Kansas City topped New Orleans 26-13.
