Oldenburg Academy edged Switzerland County 5-3 in a girls’ soccer match heard last evening on WRBI. Claire Niese recorded a hat trick for the Twisters, and found the back of the net a total of four times.

South Decatur girls’ volleyball knocked off Hauser in three sets, 25-13, 25, 10, 25-6. Makayla Somers led the Cougars with 11 assists, two aces, two kills, five digs and a block.

In middle school volleyball, Batesville took two from South Dearborn. It was the Bulldogs over the Knights in 7th grade action, 25-16, 25-15. The Batesville 8th graders came up aces 25-18, 25-18.

The Atlanta Braves clobbered the Reds 15-3 yesterday at Great American Ball Park to take the three-game series. The Reds open the final home series of the season tonight when they begin a three-game weekend set against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In the WNBA, the Washington Mystics slid past the Indiana Fever 92-91. The Fever begins postseason action Sunday when they visit the Connecticut Sun in game one of the playoffs.
