James L. McDaniel Sr.

James McDaniel Sr., of Dillsboro, IN, formerly of Aurora, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024.

He was born Wednesday, October 31, 1934 in Aurora, Indiana, son of the late Alvin G. McDaniel and the late Pina M. McDaniel.

He worked in electrical construction at Powell Valve and prior to that he worked at I&M for 10 years.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of Aurora High School. In his younger years, he loved boating on the Ohio River and water skiing. His family owned Lesco park and there were boat docks there where he worked as a young boy. He was very patriotic, and wanted his country and his home to be the best that it could be. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Aurora, on Fourth St. before moving and working away. He worked with a group of citizens to get the South Dearborn School Board changed to an elected board. Jim served on the Aurora Park Board, even being president for a year. He worked hard to upgrade maintenance and improvements on the swimming pool and large pavilion building. He was an Indiana Real Estate Broker and worked to get the ground listed for the first senior citizen building just off of US 50 in Aurora. Jim was proud that he could help make improvements in his home town of Aurora. Jim also helped his son Jim and wife Pam run the Dillsboro Mobile Home Park.

Surviving are sons, Jim (Pam) McDaniel Jr. of Rising Sun, IN, James T. McDaniel of Lawrenceburg, IN, Jon McDaniel of Lawrenceburg, IN; grandchildren, Panda McCann (Shane), Jason McDaniel (Kelley), Mason Clinger (Rachel), Forrest Clinger, Michele Gregory, Cassidy and Maddie McDaniel. Also survived by several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Pina McDaniel, daughter, Teresa K. Clinger, brother, William C. McDaniel, sisters Louanna R. Fleming, Linda Neal and Barbara Jean.

Friends will be received at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Bill Secrest Officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, IN 47001.
