Renee L. Doughman

Renee Lynn Doughman, age 48 of South Lebanon, OH, passed peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2024, at home with family by her side. Born September 25, 1975. in Batesville, Indiana, she is the daughter of Diane (Nee: Enneking) and Theodore “Ted” Dierckman. She married Scott David Doughman on May 11, 2002, at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris, Indiana where she received all her religious sacraments.

Renee graduated from East Central High School in 1994, received her BS from Purdue University in 1998, then completed her PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2002, where she met her husband, Scott. Following their time in Wisconsin, Renee and Scott did post graduate studies and started their professional careers at UNC Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

As a childhood cancer survivor at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Renee was deeply committed to her profession and to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, which was to be her future, as it was near and dear to her heart until her passing. In 2012, Renee accepted a position at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for a career there. First, as a Senior Specialist in Regulatory Affairs, which brought the family to Ohio. Then, in 2017, she was promoted to Neuro-Oncology Project Manager for Clinical Trials. Finally, in Spring of 2020 she was promoted to Director of Human Research Oversight with the Office of Research Compliance and Regulatory Affairs (ORCRA) at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where she remained until the time of her passing.

Renee had a passion for her flower gardens and enjoyed tending to these each year. She loved her family and sharing time with her husband. With her family, she also loved traveling, music, pets, Church, holidays and time together. She was also a proud Purdue alum who loved to root for her alma mater during March Madness. However, she enjoyed nothing more than watching her children, her daughter, Sara, who runs Track and Field at Ohio University as a Junior, and her son, Kurt, who is in the King’s High School Marching Band, as a Sophomore.

Renee is survived by her husband Scott Doughman of South Lebanon, OH; children Sara and Kurt Doughman at home; sisters Michelle (Chad) Burkhead of Bagdad, KY and Melissa (Josh) Stephens of Knightstown, IN; parents Theodore “Ted” and Diane Dierckman of Sunman, IN; maternal aunt Kay (Joe) Schumacher of Batesville, IN; maternal uncle Keith (Mary) Enneking of Maple Rapids, MI; paternal aunts Judy Dierckman, Jean (Joe) Huber, Molly (Leo) Bruno, Helen “Pud” Bolte, and Ruthie (Leno) Stock; paternal uncles Tony (Kate) Dierckman and Mike (Carole) Dierckman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; father and mother-in-law Gary and Diane Doughman; sisters-in-law: Lalita Doughman of AZ and Jyothi Doughman of CA; and life-long special friends Julie Dudley and her husband Jay.

Calling hours are Tuesday, September 17th, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Morris, Indiana, with Father Shaun Whittington officiating. She will be laid to rest following mass in the church cemetery.
