Oldenburg Academy boys’ soccer downed South Ripley 9-1 last night in Versailles. Conner Holder recorded another hat trick for the Class 1A 10th ranked Twisters, who improve to 5-3-1 on the season.

State-ranked Batesville won the Ripley County girls golf meet last night at North Branch. It was the Bulldogs 152; Jac-Cen-Del 238, and South Ripley – which was without the services of Lilly Jones – finished at 262. Milan had an incomplete team score after one of the Indian players dropped out due to illness. Ava South from 9th ranked Batesville took medalist honors with a 36.

OA boys tennis extended its season long winning streak to five after a 3-2 victory over Milan. Winners for the twisters were Jacob Stenger at #2 singles, Grant Goldsmith and Jack Freeland at #1 doubles and the #2 doubles team of Zach Phillips and Grant Rosenberger.

South Decatur outlasted North Decatur 3 sets to 2 in the varsity volleyball edition of the Civil War. Makayla Somers led the way for the Cougars with 33 assists, 3 aces, 3 kills, 14 digs and 4 total blocks.

The Reds shut out the Cardinals 3-0 in St. Louis last night. Rookie righthander Rhett Lowder earned his first major league win. He pitched five scoreless innings, struck out three and allowed just five hits while walking none. The Reds broke through in the fifth inning when they scored all three runs – highlighted by a TJ Friedl two run single. Game two of the series is tonight. Coverage begins at 7:15 on 103.9 WRBI.
