Batesville Cross Country Runs in EC Invitational

It was a chilly Saturday morning, perfect running weather for the East Central Cross Country Invitational. Batesville had 18 individuals break a personal or season record in this race. East Central’s Calley Bentley broke the meet record time, flying through at 18:45. Batesville’s Kaylynn Bedel and Lexiyne Harris crossed the finish line in 3rd (20:07) and 4th (20:10), Paige Allgeier was 7th (20:48.2) and Jayla Bedel placed 9th (20:49.2.) The Bulldogs then had the next 3 spots (10th-12th) in a pack

with Samantha Adams leading this charge (21:08), with Caitlin Raver (21:09.2) and Hilary Ziegler (21:09.2) right behind her. The final score ended up with the Trojans taking the championship trophy with 22 points and the Bulldogs with 33.  On the JV side, Batesville’s Bayleigh Demaree led the way in first (21:39) with

Maycee Holtkamp as runner up (21:49).

Boys Results: The boys kept this momentum going and they all ran incredibly. All 7 varsity runners were in the top 10 and Batesville also took the top 3 spots for the JV. Jake Chapman was the first to cross the finish line with a 17 second career personal best time of 16:23. Just 23 second behind him and also running a career personal best time was Cannon Clark at 16:46 and placing 2nd. Isaac Trossman came through in the 4th place spot at 17:27. Although there was a minute gap, the Bulldogs had the rest of the varsity 7 come in within 15 seconds of each other. Ethan Rahschulte was 5th (18:27), with Levi Essick a couple of steps behind in 6th (18:29), then Cash Myers was 8th (18:36) and Jaden Basler, 10th (18:44).   With these finishes, Batesville crushed the competition, scoring just 18 points to East Central’s 2nd place finish at 49 points. On the JV side, as mentioned earlier, the Bulldogs had the first 3 finishers and they were Brody Gibson (20:06), Landon Raver (20:18) and Ryan Benz (20:35).
