Bob Barnhorst

Robert “Bob” Barnhorst, a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday August 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicky, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years, his son-in-law, Tom Klump, and his parents Stanley and Esther Barnhorst.

Bob’s life was marked by a commitment to his work and his family. He began his career as a skilled carpenter, a trade that allowed him to create and build with his hands. After several years of remodeling and building new homes, he decided to try his hand at farming, so in 1975 the family moved to Indiana.   After years of farming, he built his home in St. Leon. Bob’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own successful business building new homes, a testament to his craftsmanship and determination.

Beyond his work, Bob had a love for the simple pleasures in life. Whether it was building things in his wood shop, telling jokes, or just reading in his chair. He had a deep passion for history, spending countless hours reading and learning about the past. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing. He often found peace and relaxation on the water. Not only did he enjoy catching fish, but he also raised his own fish and sold them to local pet stores.

Bob is survived by his brothers Donald (Midge) Barnhorst M.D. and John (Jean) Barnhorst, his three children, Kathy (Tom) Klump, Connie (Mike Hamilton) Edmundson, and Joe (Cheryl) Barnhorst, as well as many grandchildren Jennifer (Jimmy Sterwerf) Klump, Janice Henry, Tom Jr. (Julia) Klump, Ryan Edmundson, Doug (Emily) Edmundson, Robert (Megan) Edmundson, Tim (Julia) Barnhorst, Laura Barnhorst, and great grandchildren Lane & Lexi Klump, Jacob & Jarrett Sterwerf, Weston & Cora Henry, Kinsley & Hadley Klump, Helena Edmundson, Kailey, Kenzie, Emily Edmundson who brought immense joy to his life. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the homes he built, and the lives he touched.

Rest in peace, Grandpa. You will be deeply missed.
