Teresa M. Avery, age 67, of Canmer, Kentucky, and formerly of Brookville, Indiana, died Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at TJ Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky, following a lengthy illness.
Born August 4, 1957 in Connersville, Indiana, she was the youngest of five daughters born to the late Kelley S. & Edna Mae (Hubbard) Robinson. On June 15, 1975 she became the wife of Lawrence D. Avery, and he survives.
She was a dispatcher for Franklin & Union Counties in Indiana and had also worked as a CNA for several years. She loved to sew, and had worked at the Jewell Box in Magnolia, Kentucky.
She was a member of Hiseville Christian Church in Hiseville, Kentucky, and Oak Forest Church of Christ in Brookville, Indiana. She found great joy and strength from her Christian brothers and sisters. Her Lord, husband, children & grandchildren, and spending time with her sisters meant the world to her.
She was the Hart County High School football program’s biggest fan and looked forward to her Friday nights at the football field. She also found great joy watching the cows and spending time with her puppies on their farm in Kentucky. She enjoyed water aerobics with her friends and was an Anna Lee doll collector.
Christmas was a very important time of year for her, and decorating for it was quite an event. Attending the Christmas Walk in Metamora with her family was a special highlight.
Besides Larry, her husband of over 49 years, survivors include three children, Heather (Mark) Couch of Brookville, Indiana; Lindsay (Brian) Patterson of Brookville, Indiana; and Dillon (Sherri) Avery of Cave City, Kentucky; 22 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorna Jones of Brookville, Indiana, Cheryl (Steve) Bischoff of Brookville, Indiana and Pat Helton of Oxford, Mississippi.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Tonya Hofer who passed away on 8/11/2024; as well as two brothers-in-law, Don Jones and Freddie Helton.
Family & friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Oak Forest Church of Christ, 13071 St. Mary’s Road, Brookville.
Jim Sieboldt will officiate the Funeral Services at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Oak Forest Church of Christ, where family & friends may gather after 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday morning.
Her contagious laughter, generosity, loving spirit, and zest for life will be deeply missed by those who had the blessing of knowing her.
