From Coach Angie Ehrman:
The 7th grade Lady Bulldogs had a slow start against Greendale, falling behind 3-9. Then they rallied and played aggressively to close the gap and bring the game to 24 all eventually winning 25-24. In game 2 the team kept that intense play to win 25-9. The top servers were Ella Peetz with a perfect 15/15 from the service line; earning 12 points with 5 aces. Zoey Mathews earned 8 points with 1 ace for the team. Reece Richey had 6 service points while Nya Moon chipped in 4. Vera Flannery had 2 points & Elsie Koehne had 1 point. In the front row, Zoiee Carter, Adalyn Placke, and Nya Moon all had 1 kill. In the back row, Placke, Brielle Maple, Caroline Wiedeman, and Allana Herbert all had good passing. The team is now 2-2.
From Coach Shelly Prickel:
The BMS 8th Grade Lady Dogs faced a tough opponent in Greendale falling short 20-25; 13-25. Despite the score, the team showed great hustle and had many contested rallies throughout the match. As a team, we had our best effort from the front line this season. The first set was super exciting with a few lead changes. The team just couldn’t quite pull off the upset. In set 2, consecutive missed serves set the tone as Greendale began to take control. Still battling, though, the team just couldn’t quite regain the momentum or flash the well-rounded play they had shown earlier. Playing with more consistency will remain our goal.
Maci Smith served 5 points, while Hailey Hundley and Carly Blanton added 4 and 3 points respectively. Smith also led the offensive attack with 3 kills, while Lydia Niese, Kenzi Lacey, and Breauna Broshears each had 1 kill in the front line. Miki Gutzwiller sparked the team with a nice block at the net. The teams will be back in action next week starting on Tuesday as they face Franklin County Middle School in a home match.
