(Batesville, IN) – Hardware was handed out and a leadership transition took place at Tuesday night’s Batesville Area Arts Council Celebration of the Arts Annual Membership Meeting and Social.
Paul Satchwill ended his year as board president and reflects on his tenure.
“I think what I’m most proud of is that we continued to connect with other businesses and organizations in the community to just make partnerships that matter, bringing art and experiences to the community,” Satchwill said. “I’m also proud that a lot of my ideas are going to live well past my presidency in a digital format that will always be celebrating art and will be accessible, not just to people from Batesville but anyone who happens to stumble upon it.”
Satchwill turned things over to new board president Shannon Mullins, who outlined her goals for the coming year.
“I’d really love to make sure that everybody is getting all of the information about music, authors, artists, all kinds of different disciplines that we have in the field,” Mullins said.
She also plans to continue programs that have been rolled out in recent years, and has in mind some new things to venture into.
“We are trying to create some consistency in the programs, such as doing the Classically Haunted program, and the Christmas program, they’ll be held every year, and then my programs such as Cirque du Soleil, the Artist of the Year, Stunt Dogs…kind of extra things that we hope more families will be able to get to,” Mullins added.
New board members were also installed. They are Jessica VanDeventer, vice president; Dan Harmeyer, treasurer; Alli Andrews, social media, and at-large members Amber Cochran, Hannah Evans and Kevin McGuire.
Outgoing board members Dan Hall, Judy Meyer and Connie Rozman received thanks for their service.
Walt Enneking from Van by the River Productions received the President’s Award; Angela Linville was named Volunteer of the Year; Chaz Kaiser and Wayne Lanning took home the Arts in Education Award, and WRBI was honored to be named the Organization of the Year.
The event took place at Shift Restaurant and Bar at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club.
