Lady Pirates Win Greensburg Invitational

The Greensburg Cross Country Teams hosted one of the largest invitationals in the state of Indiana Monday night with 26 schools competing in the 20th annual Greensburg Junior High Invitational. The Lady Pirates fought hard to edge out New Palestine as well as 25 other teams for the championship. The Greensburg Boys placed 11th out of 26 teams.

The Greensburg Girls were dominating from the start line and swept through the finish victorious with their sea of Pirate Blue. The Lady Pirates earned four of the top 8 spots out of a total of 145 total competitors. The first Greensburg Girl to cross the line was Madeline Risher as she earned the Individual Runner Up Champion spot as she held off a New Pal runner. Joining Madeline on the Medalist podium included Eleanor Davis in 4th, Maria Scholle in 6th, and Lulu Webb in 8th. Lulu ran a season best time to hold off a New Pal competitor and help solidify the championship for the Greensburg Girls. Other varsity runners contributing to the win included Hadley Davis in 50th, Kate McNulty in 63rd and Annalise Keller in 66th. Noelle Kern competed in the JV race finishing 55th out of 75 girls.
Jackson Tekulve led the Greensburg boys team as an Invitational Medalist earning the 10th place podium spot out of 161 total runners. Sixth grader Jack Gindling competed well with a 39th place finish with Oliver Corya and Kason Bedel earning 52nd and 55th. Liam Hernandez ran a season best time to finish 91st and 6th graders Luke Harris and Miles Gill finished 111th and 121st.
