The Greensburg Cross Country teams traveled to Madison on Saturday morning for a 7 team Lou Knoble Invitational. The Lady Pirates were crowned the 2024 Madison Lou Knoble Invitational Girls Team Champions and the Gentlemen placed 2nd just 5 points behind the Madison Cubs.
Individual Girls Invite Champion, Madeline Risher, led the pack of Lady Pirates in their dominating victory. Five ladies placed in the top 9 to earn the team championship and finished with a nearly perfect score of 19. Joining Madeline as Invite Medalists and State Qualifiers include 2nd Eleanor Davis, 3rd Maria Scholle, 4th Lulu Webb, and 9th Hadley Davis. All five ladies ran significantly faster times than their previous race. Kate McNulty improved the most out of all the team members by dropping over 55 seconds and setting a new career PR.
Jackson Tekulve was crowned the Individual Boys Invite Champion as he led the entire boys race from start to finish. Four of Greensburg’s boys placed in the top 15 in the invitational and ran State Qualifying times. Joining Jackson as an Invite Medalist, Oliver Corya placed 6th. Jack Gindling ran his first race of the season placing 11th while Kason Bedel placed 15th. Jackson, Oliver, Jack and Kason are all state qualifiers with their times. Many of the boys ran season best times. Luke Harris improved the most by dropping nearly a minute from last week.
