Batesville Junior High Volleyball Faces Greensburg

From 7th grade Coach Angie Ehrman:
The 7th grade volleyball team opened their season with a win vs Greensburg. They had a slow start with a score of 11-17. Then Zoey Mathews served 7 straight points to take the lead. The teams battled back & forth & the Bulldogs won 28-26. The team fell behind in game 2 but also came back to take the lead. Reece Richey served 12 points including 7 aces in this game to earn the win 25-19. Also earning service points were Zoey Mathews with 9 points, Caroline Weideman and Ella Peetz each earned 3 points and Nya Moon earned 1 point.  In the front line Peetz had 3 kills, Elsie Koehne, Weideman, and Richey all had 1 kill.  In the back row Harper Wagner, Brielle Maple, Allana Herbert, and Adalyn Placke had solid passing.

From Coach Shelly Prickel:
The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball team battled Greensburg in two closely contested sets falling just short 22-25 and 25-27. The Lady Dogs could not maintain any significant service runs but battled for many sideouts to keep the games close. The leading server was Carly Blanton who scored 9 points over the 2 sets while connecting on all 12 of her serves. Setters Lydia Niese and Miki Gutzwiller each chipped in with 3 points.

The Bulldogs will work on improving their offensive attack in the coming games. The front line vs. Greensburg was led by Maci Smith with 3 kills. Breauna Broshears, Izzy Dierckman, and Kiersten Luers each contributed a kill at the net. Stay positive, ladies!
