James Edwin Bohman

James Edwin Bohman, age 85 of Greenfield, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at home. Born May 12, 1939, in Beech Grove, Indiana, he is the son of Alvina (Nee: Krekeler) and Edward Bohman. He married Nancy McCauley on August 6, 1966, at St. John’s Church in Enochsburg, Indiana. He was a graduate of Purdue University and worked as a salesman covering various parts of the Midwest throughout his life.  James also served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the VFW in Shelbyville at the time of his death.

Jim was a supportive, caring husband to Nancy for 49 years and was a devoted father to their children. He was a gregarious person who never met a stranger and often brought a smile to people’s faces with his folksy wit. In his younger days, he loved quail hunting with his dogs and watching Purdue and IU basketball. Jim was lucky to spend his final years dancing and laughing with his friend Barb.

Jim is survived by his daughter Michelle (Kevin) Hays of Bloomington, Indiana; sons John (Shrina) Bohman of Salt Lake City, Utah and Brian (Alexandra) Bohman of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters Joann Hazelwood, Susie (Arnie) Kirschner of Batesville and Cheryl Parmer of Enochsburg ; brothers Richard (Paula) Bohman of Hamburg, Kenneth (Kathy) Bohman and Steve Bohman both of Batesville and two grandchildren Elise and Owen Hays. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife Nancy (2015) and sister Helen Gutzwiller.

Visitation is Monday, August 19th, from 10 – 11 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church – St. John Campus in Enochsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Bill Ehalt officiating. He will be laid to rest following mass in the church cemetery.
