(Statehouse) – Indiana House Republicans are looking for students interested in serving as interns at the Statehouse during the 2025 legislative session.
Local State Rep. and former intern Alex Zimmerman (R-North Vernon) says House interns will be paid $900 bi-weekly, and work in downtown Indianapolis during the session, which starts in January and ends in April.
“As an intern at the Statehouse, I was able to meet so many Hoosiers from different backgrounds, grow my professional network and learn more about the state. I encourage all Hoosier students to apply now and take advantage of this one-of-a-kind learning experience,” Zimmerman said.
Full-time internships are open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors of any major; graduate students and law school students.
Interns will have learning opportunities in several departments, including legislative, communications and policy.
With the legislative team, interns will work with legislative assistants, connect with constituents, cover committees and help lawmakers.
Interns on the communications team help craft news releases, email newsletters and podcasters, as well as record video interviews and cover news conferences.
As policy interns, students research and track legislation, prepare committee reports, and and assist staff and lawmakers with legislative and fiscal inquiries.
Internships are Monday through Friday and include free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through the students’ college or university.
Interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
