William H. “Bill” Holtkamp, 70, Greensburg, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 in Columbus, IN. Bill was born on February 5, 1954 in Batesville, IN, the son of Leonard J. and Ella Mae (Cramer) Holtkamp.
Bill grew up on a farm in Smyrna, IN. He continued to farm and raise feeder cattle on that same farm until his death.
On April 2, 1977, Bill married Vengi Mozingo at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Enochsburg, IN. This happy union of over 47 years was blessed with three amazing children, Anthony, Alicia, and Emily, not to mention 8 wonderful grandchildren who were his greatest joys.
Bill graduated from North Decatur High School in 1972. He had a deep appreciation for family, farming, feeding cattle, and restoring antique John Deere tractors. His family and farming made his life complete.
Bill will be sadly missed by his wife, Vengi Holtkamp, son Anthony (Katie) Holtkamp, two daughters, Alicia (Emil) Narwold, Emily (Bart) Smith, 8 grandchildren, Sydney, Morgan, and Aubrey Holtkamp, Easton, Mason, and Norah Narwold, Aurora and Hazlee Smith, his mother, Ella Mae Holtkamp, three brothers, David (Joyce) Holtkamp, Dennis (Joyce) Holtkamp, and Charles (Vicki) Holtkamp, and many nieces and nephews, especially Ryan Holtkamp who he had the pleasure of working with daily for many years on the family farm.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard J. Holtkamp, his grandparents, Noel and Dobie Cramer and William and Loretta Holtkamp, and three nephews, Chad Holtkamp, Jesse Elsner, and Adam Holtkamp.
A reception-style visitation will be held at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4-8 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM with Father John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery in Enochsburg.
