Janice Carol (Bolton) Ries, 86, of Dillsboro, IN, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024.
She was born May 18, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Roland Bolton and Marie (Wilhoff) Bolton.
Janice, along with her loving husband Aug, owned the grocery store, Merries Foods, in Aurora for 21 years. She was an excellent businesswoman.
Janice had many interests. She was an excellent cook and baker and she loved to feed everyone. In her youth, Janice was a singer for various bands in Cincinnati and was a dancer as well as a dance instructor. She was a big fan of music mainly jazz and blues.
She loved all animals owning many dogs, cats and birds in her lifetime, many of them rescued. Janice liked living out in the country and enjoyed watching all of the wildlife.
She was adventurous and liked to travel. Along with Aug, she traveled to many countries including England, Spain and Brazil.
Janice is survived by her son, Jeff Ries; daughter, Christine (Michael) Clift; sister, Bette McClure. niece, Debby Brown in addition to many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, August F Ries; parents, Roland and Marie Bolton.
Friends will be received Saturday, August 10, 2024, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home, at 12:00 pm.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, IN.
