The Reds lost Sunday to the Giants, 8-2. It’s Cincy’s 9th loss in its last 15 games. The Reds grabbed an early 2-nothing lead on back-to-back homers by Santiago Espinal and Jeimer Candelario. Espinal stole 2 bases in the game, as league leader Elly De La Cruz also did, but San Francisco’s Matt Chapman got to pitcher Carson Spiers with a 2-run homer in the 4th, his 17th dinger of the season. LaMonte Wade, Jr. and Tyler Fitzgerald also hit San Francisco homers, and Giants pitcher Robbie Ray allowed only the 2 Cincinnati runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, for the Giants’ win. The Reds are back at it in Miami this week, visiting the Marlins for 4 games. The first broadcast arrives on your radio just after WRBI’s “Overtime” tonight.

He’s a South Ripley High grad, and has been with Florida Gator athletics the last 3 decades. At the Paris Olympic games… Evansville swimmer Lilly King was part of Sunday’s world-record-setting women’s 4 by 100-meter medley relay, the gold medalists, taking the best time ever in the event down to 3:49.63.
Also taking part in that event, though not in the final, 17-year-old Alex Shackell was one of the team members who still gets a gold medal, because she helped the team through heats leading up to the big race. The soon-to-be Carmel High senior also picked up a silver medal Thursday, as a similar member of the 4 x 200 meter relay.
6’4″ Elkhart native and former Purdue star Annie Drews is helping lead the US women’s volleyball squad, which advanced to the quarterfinals by beating France Sunday. Annie helped Team USA win its first-ever gold volleyball medal, in the Tokyo Olympics. The Americans take on Poland tomorrow.
