(Dillsboro, IN) – It’s not your everyday call.
That’s the word from firefighters who dealt with a brush fire ignited by a fallen high-voltage line on the 11,000 block of West Laughery Creek Road near Dillsboro Monday afternoon.
Crews from several Southeastern Indiana fire departments were forced to go into defensive mode in battling the blaze due to the possibility of electrocution.
Officials say since the brush was relatively green and wasn’t energized by the power line, the fire went out on its own, for the most part.
Energy company crews using heavy equipment eventually came in and took over recovery operations.
There were no injuries reported.
Responding agencies included the Dillsboro, Friendship, Bear Branch, Rising Sun and Aurora fire departments, Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit, and Lawrenceburg
Fire officials say this serves as a reminder that fallen power lines are dangerous and should never be approached or touched under any circumstance.
