Mrs. Helen Marie (Swango) Peelman, age 78, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on December 5, 1945 at home in Vevay, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Clifford Swango, Sr. and Lula Elizabeth (Brown) Swango. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a graduate of the Vevay High School. Helen was united in marriage to Richard Charles “Rick” Peelman on May 8, 1969 at the Plum Creek Baptist Church. Helen and Rick were blessed with five wonderful boys, Mike, Shawn, Kevin, Tony and Travis. Helen was later united in marriage to David E. Hutton on July 22, 2006 in Warsaw, Kentucky. This happy blended family was blessed with four wonderful children, Jessie, Nate, AJ and Krey. In her early years of life, Helen worked factory jobs until her mother became ill. After the death of her mother, Helen was employed for several years as the senior marketing executor for WKID Radio and 95.9 Froggy in Vevay, Indiana. She was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ where she was baptized. Helen enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She loved meeting people through work and enjoyed painting, drawing and decorating, as well as, taking long walks. Helen always wanted to take vacations but never did. She wanted to stay close to home just in case her children or grandchildren needed her. She was always there to lend a helping hand to others. Helen passed away at 6:18 a.m., Saturday June 15, 2024, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Helen will be deeply missed by her husband of nearly 18 years, David E. “Dave” Hutton of Vevay, IN; her sons, Mike (Dee) Bennett of St. Louis, MO, Shawn (Deb) Bennett of Bethlehem, IN, Kevin (Angie) Peelman of Seymour, IN, Tony (Kim) Peelman of Madison, IN and Travis (Sherri) Peelman of Vevay, IN; her step-children, Jessie (Chad) Lowrance of Clay City, KY, Nate Hutton of Worthville, KY, AJ (Katie) Hutton of Lebanon, OH and Krey Hutton of Worthville, KY; her loving grandchildren, Nate, Maddie, Brittney, Chelsey, Adrienne, Amber, Ashley, Austin, Zach, Trevor, Dylan, Jaylen, Karson, Maci, Chanity, Chaylon, Chesley, Wesson and Andrew; her 16-great-grandchildren; her sister, Patty Christen of near Pleasant, IN; her brother, Larry Swango of Vevay, IN and her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Swango, Sr. died January 18, 1969; her mother, Lula Elizabeth (Brown) Swango, died July 27, 1996; her first husband, Richard Charles “Rick” Peelman, died March 3, 2016; her sisters, Juanita P. Scudder, Linda Lou Snyder, Dorothy Louise Osborn, Mary T. Peelman, Clara L. Dunning and Frances L. Osborn and her brother, Clifford Swango, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, by Bro. Shawn McMullen, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
