Naaman Johnson, of Holt, Michigan was born in Franklin County, Indiana on July 16, 1939, a son to Robert Lee and Christine (nee: Long) Johnson. He graduated from Brookville High School and later Kalamazoo Valley Community College. On his 21st birthday, Naaman married Mary Ann Sturwold at St. Michael’s Church in Brookville and together they raised two daughters. He was a tool and die maker for General Motors and retired in 2004 after 38 years of service. Naaman was an avid golfer, loved all sports, and especially enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds and Michigan State Spartans. On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the age of 84, he passed away at the Willows of East Lansing, Michigan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family.
Those surviving who will cherish Naaman’s memory include his wife of nearly 64 years, Mary Ann Johnson; daughters Robin Naeyaert and Terri (Jim) O’Brien; grandsons, Matthew (Lindsey) Naeyaert, Kevin Naaman Naeyaert, Zachary Naaman O’Brien, and Nicholas O’Brien; great-grandchildren, Georgia and Landon Naaman Naeyaert; one brother, Aaron (Jane) Johnson; two sisters, Faye Brock and Patricia Stanley, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sue Howard, Barbara Lake, and infant Mary Lee Johnson, and one brother, Robert Lee (Bobby) Johnson.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Father Shaun Whittington will officiate a Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions can be directed to St. Jude’s Research Hospital. The staff of Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Naaman Johnson.
