Glad to stand corrected after Friday night–  make that Reds win streak 6 games now, not 5, after knocking off the Cubs again, 3-2.  Talking to reporters afterward, Reds rookie Blake Dunn says when he punched a ball out into center field in the 5th inning, he wasn’t just glad to get a hit, Dunn was determined to make it a double. So he dove in there hard, and the throw wasn’t close.

Dunn’s first career major-league hit got things going, just as the Reds have gotten started with a big play in each of their last several games—  this time launching a 2-out Cincinnati rally.  Elly De La Cruz stole his 33rd base of the season in the game, Spencer Steer got on after appearing to strike out when the ball got past the Cubs catcher, and in those black “City Connect” uniforms, the Reds went on to their 3-2 win that again pushed the win streak to 6 games, tying them with the Cubs for 2nd place in the NL Central.  All 3 Reds scores in the game came with 2 outs, to they’ve now racked up 32 two-out runs out of 45 total scores, during the win streak.

The same squads hook up again this afternoon at the Ballpark, and the broadcast comes to you beginning at 3:40, on the Sports Voice, 103.9, WRBI.

It’s been more than 20 years–  a reminder that today’s players weren’t alive yet–  since the last time Bobby Reynolds was not the baseball coach at East Central High.  Now the Trojans are looking for someone his torch can be passed to, as they announce Coach Reynolds has stepped down, more specifically after 22 seasons.  He won 337 games while losing only 211, his clubs earned 8 EIAC championships, and one sectional title.  In the 23-24 season, the Trojans went 19 & 9 on the diamond, and took the conference with a 13 & 1 record in league play.  Coach Reynolds hasn’t yet announced what he’ll be doing next.  Of course everyone around East Central appreciates his work with their young people the last couple decades.

The next IndyCar series race is on tap tomorrow–  it’s a Grand Prix on the RoadAmerica course at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.  That track’s about 4 miles around, with 14 turns.  The event’s defending champion is Alex Palou, and he won there in 2021 as well.  Scott Dixon and 2-time Indy 500 champ Josef Newgarden have also won twice at RoadAmerica.  One-time winners so far who’ll be competing tomorrow include Felix Rosenqvist, Alexander Rossi, and Will Power.
