Joy Lynn Jackson, 77, Greensburg

Joy Lynn Jackson, 77, of Greensburg left her earthly life on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born on September 13, 1946, in Batesville, IN, as Mary Catherine Bloom. After a short stay in an orphanage she was adopted by her parents, George and Dorothy Vaulk who named her Joy Lynn Vaulk. She graduated from Montmorenci High School in 1964. While there, she was a Candy Striper for Home Hospital, active in her local Rainbow chapter, and a cheerleader. She was also active in the United Methodist Church in Montmorenci.  After high school, she attended St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing. While there, she met her soul mate and married Gary Jackson on August 13, 1966. While in Lafayette, she worked at Home Hospital and Purdue University. In 1968, they moved to Lebanon, IN, where Joy was a homemaker and taught piano lessons. In 1971, Gary and Joy moved to a farm in Greensburg, IN, where they currently reside. By 1980, Joy had entered the medical field working with Dr. Domingo and later Tree City Medical Partners. She was a member of the Burney United Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ for many years. She was an avid sports fan of her daughters, granddaughters and her great grandchildren, as well as her Purdue Boilermakers. Her favorite vacation destination was spending time with Gary and the family in The Great North Woods in St. Germain, Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband Gary, her four beautiful daughters, Lisa Jackson, Melissa (Tom)Anderson, Melani Jackson-Hewitt all of Greensburg and Jennifer (Nathan) Osting of Milroy. She has 12 grandchildren, Jessica (Jordan) Hitchell, Brandon Gay, Tiara Holbrook, Brittany Holbrook, Scotty Anderson, Erika Jackson, Bryce Bower, Kelsey (Brandon)Guerrero, Ashlyn Hewitt, Addison (Tylor) Maddox, Balee Osting and Caitlynn Osting. She also had 11 great grandchildren: Reese, Hayes, Hadley Hitchell, Novalee Gay, Gracie and Gabriella Garland, Khloee Allen, Brylee O’Mara, Jackson Taylor, Sophia and Riley Guerrero and one on the way in November. Joy was preceded in death by her parents. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 3 from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 7:00 P.M. Pastor Jerran Jackson will be officiating. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or St. Francis Cardiac Intensive Care Unit through the funeral home.
