(Franklin County, IN) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says a Cedar Grove man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run investigation that began Saturday evening on the 1,000 block of Mortashed Road.
The investigation and tips from the public led deputies to a house on the 4,000 block of Mueller Road near Cedar Grove.
While executing a search warrant at the house, deputies found the suspect’s vehicle, a green 1997 GMC Sonoma pick-up truck.
35-year-old Cade Barnes was arrested without incident on preliminary charges of Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, and Driving While Suspended – Habitual Traffic Violator (both Level 6 felonies).
Barnes was lodged in the Franklin County Security Center in lieu of $1,055 bond.
Deputies are thanking the community for providing tips which helped lead to an arrest in the case.
If convicted of a Level 6 felony, Barnes can face up to two and a half years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is emphasizing that the preliminary charges Barnes is facing are for booking and bail purposes only.
Once the investigation is finished, deputies will forward their findings to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of what, if any, formal charges would be filed against him.
