(Batesville, IN) – Lucy Abplanalp and Kailey Schaeffer, both of Batesville, have been selected as the 2024 Hispanic Community Advisory Committee (HCAC) Study Abroad Scholarship winners.
Both students were chosen from a pool of applicants who will be travelling to Spain as part of their high school studies.
The two winning applicants both wrote that they were interested in learning more about culture, language, and creating closer bonds with foreign exchange students.
The HCAC of Batesville is a volunteer, nonprofit, human services organization.
Officials say the HCAC serves as a bridge between cultures and provides translation services, English as a Second Language class and other community resources.
