(Versailles, IN) – South Ripley High School (SRHS) has been recognized as the winner of the Small School Division in the Indiana Army National Guard Enlistment Challenge for the 2023-2024 school year. With an impressive five students enlisting to join the National Guard upon graduation, SRHS distinguished itself by leading the small school division in the State of Indiana.
The Enlistment Challenge, aimed at promoting careers in the National Guard among high school students, has seen South Ripley High School’s commitment to service and dedication to the community bear fruit. The efforts of National Guard recruiters Brandon Seabolt and Tyler Roberts in encouraging students to consider military service have not only bolstered the ranks of the National Guard but have also provided students with valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.
To celebrate this achievement, members of the Indiana Army National Guard paid a special visit to SRHS on Wednesday, April 24. A Blackhawk helicopter, piloted by Guard members, landed behind the high school parking lot, capturing the attention and admiration of students and staff alike. Approximately 25 staff members seized the unique opportunity to take a ride in the Blackhawk, experiencing firsthand the thrill of flying in one of the military’s most iconic aircraft.
“The Enlistment Challenge has been a fantastic initiative, and we are incredibly proud of our students for stepping up and making the commitment to serve their country,” said SRHS Principal Joe Ralston. “Winning the challenge and having the chance to ride in a Blackhawk helicopter is an unforgettable experience for our staff. It’s a testament to the spirit of community and service that defines South Ripley High School.”
As the Blackhawk took off and landed, students gathered to witness the awe-inspiring spectacle, further fostering a sense of pride and admiration for their peers and the National Guard members who serve our country.
South Ripley High School continues to inspire and support its students in pursuing diverse pathways to success, including military service. This achievement in the Indiana Army National Guard Enlistment Challenge reflects the school’s commitment to excellence, community engagement, and fostering a culture of service.
