Mary Agnes Konkle, 96, of Greensburg passed away on April 23, 2024. She was born on October 3, 1927 in Canaan, Indiana the daughter of Dale and Grace (Elston) Stevenson. Mary was a 1945 graduate of Central High School in Jefferson County and then went to Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. She married William “Bill” Edward Konkle on November 16, 1947 and together they had three children: Steven, Jone and Marsha. Mary worked at the ASCS office and the Farm Bureau Co-Op in Greensburg. She later owned Kirby’s Beauty Salon and The Ark Christian Book Store. Mary loved her family and often went with her husband Bill to support him in all the community events he was a part of. When she wasn’t involved with her family or her work, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Mary’s tenacious spirit showed with each card game she played.
Survivors include: Son, Steven (Hester) Konkle; Daughters, Jone Scott and Marsha (Dan) Pollock; Grandchildren, Mark R. Scott III, Dr. Mary E. (Ryan Mahoney) Konkle, Carol (Jonathan) Sundheimer, Kathleen (David) Schieber and Matthew (Haley Thompson) Pollock; Great Grandchildren, Harper and Quinn Sundheimer, William Konkle-Mahoney and Elias and Anna Schieber; and Sister, Dorothy Green. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, William Konkle; Brother, James (Mary Lou) Stevenson; Sister in laws, Mary (Jack) Gommel and Margaret (Glenford) Horine; and Brothers-in-law, Charles (Marie) Konkle and John Green.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Greensburg on 209 W. Washington St. from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral at 12:00 noon. Pastor Cliff Bunch will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Greensburg Area Emmaus, ReCharge Program at First Baptist Church of Greensburg or the Baptist Youth Camp (near Westport).
