(Ripley County, IN) – Now that the Total Solar Eclipse of 2024 has come and gone, Lions Clubs in Ripley County are asking you to place your gently used eclipse viewing glasses in an envelope and drop them off at any Lions Club eyeglass recycling box.
Those can be found in local libraries, eye doctor offices and some schools.
If you’re not sure where to drop them off, contact a Batesville, Milan, Osgood or Versailles Lions Club member.
More locations are expected to be added later this week, and those will be listed on the Versailles Lions Club Facebook page.
Businesses throughout the county can also serve as collection sites for the glasses.
The glasses will be sent to Latin and South America so school aged children there can safely view this October’s annular eclipse safely.
You’re asked to drop off the glasses no later than July 1 to ensure timely delivery.
