
This comes after the Ripley County Area Plan Commission forwarded the amended rules to county commissioners with a unanimous favorable recommendation last month.
It also ends nearly a year of discussions and negotiations. The issue came to the forefront after a group of property owners near Batesville raised concerns about some of their neighbors leasing land to solar companies.
Negotiators landed on a 400-foot setback from any adjacent existing residence, which was an increase from the proposed 250-feet.
With an ordinance in place, Ripley County property owners can lease land to companies to install solar panels.
