(Decatur County, IN) – Decatur County Council voted 5-1 this week to indefinitely table the proposed food and beverage tax.
Councilmember Melanie Nobbe cast the lone no vote to table.
Fellow councilmember Kenny Hooten says the tax could eventually be used in the future for fairgrounds maintenance and improvements.
County Council also voted this week to lower the special purpose jail tax from 0.65 to 0.60.
A public hearing on the matter will be held at next month’s meeting, which is set for April 16 at 9 a.m.
