We hope you’re as excited as we are about regional boys’ high school basketball!
The pair of championship games we’ve been looking forward to all week, with the winners moving on to semi-state competition next weekend, finally get played today! They both tip at 4:00 this afternoon– the OIdenburg Academy Twisters and Greenwood Christian Academy Cougars in Class 1A, and Batesville’s Bulldogs facing the Scottsburg Warriors in Class 3A! We’ve lined it up so we can bring you the play-by-play of both games at the same time! The Batesville game will be on the radio, on 103.9 FM… and both contests will be here on WRBIRadio.com and the new WRBI app, which now includes an even newer second stream, WRBI2. When you open the app, you’ll see both, and you can choose your game right there, and toggle between them if you like! We’ll get both broadcasts started with pregame coverage, beginning about 3:30 this afternoon. So we hope you love it— we’re going to enjoy bringing you all the action, live!
Men’s college basketball still has the Indiana State Sycamores seeded Number 1 in the Missouri Valley Conference’s Arch Madness tournament going on in St. Louis. Friday, ISU dispatched Missouri State’s Bears, 75-59. So this afternoon, the Trees take on Northern Iowa in the semi-finals, with the championship contest set for tomorrow. Elsewhere last night, Bowling Green topped Ball State, 80-70. More in men’s hoops today– West Virginia visits UC’s Bearcats, and Xavier hosts Number 8 Marquette. And tomorrow, Sunday, Number 3 Purdue hosts Wisconsin, Michigan State visits the Hoosiers, and Ohio State goes to Rutgers.
In Cactus League baseball, last night’s planned game between the Reds and Dodgers got rained out, and not just postponed as during the regular season, but it was cancelled. And of course we have this great day of local high school basketball, so no Reds this afternoon. Tomorrow, you’ll hear Cincinnati and the Guardians, first pitch at 4:05 on the Sports Voice, 103.9 FM.
And after a Thursday night loss to the T-Wolves, the NBA Pacers are on the road south– they’ll face the Magic in Orlando tomorrow.
