Mrs. Tonya L. (Higgins) Dilger, age 56, of Union, Kentucky, formerly of Canaan, Indiana, entered this life on September 13, 1967 in Madison, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of John Frederick and Barbara Ann (Hart) Higgins of Canaan, Indiana. She was raised in the Canaan, Indiana community and attended the Brushy Fork Baptist Church. She was a 1986 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. Tonya received her bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke in South Hadley, Massachusetts in 1990. Tonya was united in marriage on July 24, 1992 to Nikolaus Johannes Bernhard Dilger in Grossmehring, Germany. This happy union of nearly 32 years was blessed with eight children, Daniel, Patrick, Carmen, Lucas, Isabella, Alexander, John-Daniel and Maximilian. Tonya was formerly employed by AAFES in Vilseck, Germany. She was later employed by Fidelity Investments in Covington, Kentucky. Tonya was currently employed by Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio since July 2011. Tonya was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Union, Kentucky. Tonya enjoyed scrapbooking and photography. Her children were her pride and joy. Tonya passed away unexpectedly at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Florence, Kentucky.
Tonya will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Nikolaus Johannes Bernhard Dilger of Union, KY; her triplets, Lucas, Isabella and Alexander Dilger of Union, KY; her twins, John-Daniel and Maximilian Dilger of Union, KY; her parents, John Frederick and Barbara Ann (Hart) Higgins of Canaan, IN; her brother, John Matthew “Joey” Higgins and his wife, Debbie of Canaan, IN; her mother-in-law, Ilse (Maschmeier) Dilger of Bochum, Germany; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bettina Dilger and Gerhard Rocholl of Gelsenkirchen, Germany and Alexander and Katrin Dilger of Dortmund, Germany; her nieces and nephews, Julia and Christopher Rocholl and Fabian and Sophia Dilger; her aunts and uncles Donna Hart of Charlestown, IN, Larry and Donna Higgins of Columbus, IN and William Robert Hart of Madison, IN and her several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her children, Patrick Jakob Nathan “Pat-Pat” Dilger, died November 10, 1996, Carmen Barbara Tonya Dilger, died January 20, 2005 and Daniel Nikolaus Johannes Dilger, died April 17, 2018; her maternal-grandparents, Harold Hart, died June 3, 2001 and Della Frances (O’Connell) Hart, died September 22, 2002; her paternal-grandparents, John Isaacs Higgins, died May 28, 2005 and Mary Perle (Clements) Higgins, died February 9, 2010; her niece, Jacqueline Elaine “Jacqui” Higgins, died April 21, 2013; her uncles, Charles Hart, died February 28, 2016 and Harold David “Doc” Hart, died September 8, 2020 and her father-in-law, Bernard Dilger, died June 2, 2016.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2024 and from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, by Pastor Chris Clemans, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery near Moorefield, Indiana.
