(Greensburg, IN) – The Greensburg Rotary Club #3437 presented the Decatur County community with four Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) this week, thanks to a matching grant from Rotary District #6580.
The AEDs will be available at the Decatur County Fairgrounds, Decatur County Parks, the Pirate Park Soccer Field and the Greensburg High School football/track area.
Accepting the AEDs at the regular weekly meeting of the Rotary Club were Mike Myers and Wes Anderson with Greensburg Community Schools; Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh on behalf of Pirate Park; Decatur County Commissioner Mark Koors on behalf of the Decatur County Fairgrounds, and Jody Biddinger on behalf of the Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department.

The Rotary District 6580 Foundation allocated a total of $38,000 available to any of the 35 clubs making up the Southern District in Indiana. Clubs who applied with a worthy cause received a matching grant to pursue their own projects.
DeHoff said the Club’s Board of Directors authorized the purchase of three AEDs, but thanks to the cooperation of Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg Rotary was able receive a discount.
Combined with a donation from Rotarian Dr. Arthur Turner, the Club managed to purchase four AEDs for $1,500 each.
The AEDs also include security boxes with alarm and siren in the event the device is utilized.
DeHoff reminded Rotarians that Decatur County Memorial Hospital offers classes on CPR and AED use for individuals or companies wishing to train on the device. Contact DCMH for more information.
