Michael R. Van Wagoner, 72, of Butlerville, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his residence. He was born on January 7, 1952, in South Bend, the son of Glen & Dorthea (von Bergen) Van Wagoner. He was raised in South Bend, Indianapolis and lived in Fairland for 37 years. He was a resident of Butlerville since 2012. Michael was a member of a motorcycle club. He enjoyed guns, classic cars, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his many pets and animals. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was married to Nancy Evelyn Parks in 2008 and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2021. Survivors include his children, Robert (Connie) Van Wagoner of New Whiteland, Joshua (Emily) Hilton-Van Wagoner of Fairland, Jake Van Wagoner of Indianapolis, Jerry (Nikki) Van Wagoner of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Mark (Michelle) Wiker of Madison, Margy Price of Madison, Andrew (Patricia) Rice of Greensburg, Michelle Rice of Greenwood; his brother, Robert Van Wagoner of Nipomo, California; his 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Nancy Evelyn Van Wagoner, Roberta (Malcom) Schoettle, and Emily (Briar) Van Wagoner; and his sister, Linda Van Wagoner. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Malvin McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Flat Rock Cemetery in Osgood, IN with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
