The Batesville 7th grade girls basketball team started the season in the Jennings County Tournament with a 24-19 win against the host team. Lydia Niese led the way with 8 points and Ady Hughes added 6. Kenzie Lacey and Aubrey Weberding were relentless on defense, setting the tone for the entire game. The girls went onto win their second game against Rushville by a score of 25-19, with Ady Hughes leading all scorers with 8 points and Maci Smith adding 6 points. Stellar defense by Aubrey Kathmann, Kenzie Lacey and Aubrey Weberding led to 15 turnovers by Rushville.
After starting the tournament 2-0, the 7th-grade girls came up short in the championship game by a score of 23-17. Aubrey Kathmann led all scorers with 7 points. The girls finished the Jennings county tournament as Runner Up and set the tone for a great season to come.
