Rasma Emilija (Emily) Prieditis was born on March 18, 1932, in the Baltic Sea coast city of Liepaja, Latvia to Kris and Alma Freibergs. Her childhood was free and happy until WWII started, and many friends and neighbors were being sent to Siberia. Her family was fortunate to go to Germany and lived in a displaced persons camp for eleven years. Those years were pleasant, and Rasma met her future husband. A Methodist church in Ohio sponsored them, helping them come to America in 1951, and eventually settling in Greensburg.
On September 25, 1954, Rasma married Adolfs Prieditis in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. They were married 41 years until the passing of Adolfs in 1996. They were blessed with three children: Maris Prieditis, Andris Prieditis, and Nora (Jerry) Gunter; five grandchildren: Stefan Prieditis, Olivia (Matthew) Knight, Emily (Stephen) Volz, Marissa (Jaden) Miller, and Megan (Tyler) Pederson; great-grandchildren: Cameron Miller and Chloe Knight.
Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and spending time with her family. She was very active in her church, involved in VBS, Altar Guild, and Ladies Aid. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, table games, crafts, sewing, crocheting, and reading.
