Doris June (Adams) Walter, lovingly known as “Granny D”, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023, at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville IN.
Doris was born in Harrisburg IL on November 15, 1935, to Gladys and Bert Driskell. She married Donald Glen Adams in 1951, and he preceded her in death in 1981. She later married Bruce Walter, who also preceded her in death.
“Granny D” was loved for her kind nature, sweet smile and devotion to her children and grandchildren. She loved her “babies”, no matter their age, young or old. Doris was a faithful member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Harrisburg IL and always had one of her Bibles nearby.
Doris is survived by her three children: David ( Linda Johns) Adams of Batesville IN; Beth Adams Austin, Harrisburg IL; and Keith (Pattie Wise) Adams of Ft. Myers FL.; her brother , Richard ( Loretta) Driskell of Carrier Mills IL; five grandchildren: Katrinka ( Ted) Rynder, Evansville IN; Col. Wes ( Misty) Adams, Lorton VA; Stephanie ( Jeff) Hall, Herrin IL; Terra Webb, Herrin IL; Taylor Adams ,Panama City Beach,FL.
“Granny D” especially was blessed with a growing family of Great and Great Great Grandchildren. She also adored the children and Grandchildren of her extended and blended family. She was blessed with having a lifelong special friend, Angie Hathaway of Harrisburg IL.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Doris was preceded in death by her sister Donna Allen.
Funeral services will be held at Stricklin Funeral Home (503 E. Sloan Street, Harrisburg, IL 62946) on Thursday December 14 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 9-11 a.m. Pastor Ron Reed will officiate, with burial to follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg IL.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Liberty Baptist Church, Harrisburg IL.
