Ms. Marjorie “Margie” (Butters) Ford, age 96, of Vevay, Indiana died at 1:22 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2023, at Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Margie was born on December 26, 1926 to John Frederick Butters and Hyacinth Eudella (Rayl) Butters in Vevay, Indiana. She graduated from Vevay High School, class of 1947. Margie was united in marriage to Harold Ford on October 2, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky. They were blessed with three children, Robert, Jerry and Karen. In 1971, Margie was employed in the packing room department for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, retiring on January 4, 1990. She resided all of her life in the Switzerland County community and enjoyed telling jokes, working puzzles, crossword puzzles and word searches, as well as, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana.
Margie will be missed by her sons, Robert Wayne Ford of Jeffersonville, IN and Jerry Lynn Ford and his wife, Brenda of Socorro, New Mexico; her daughter, Karen Sue Wentworth and her husband, Gary of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Tony Ford, Billy Ford, Amy (Aaron) Walcott, David Wentworth, Gregory Wentworth, Jonathan Ford, Danny Ford and Derrick Ketcharside; her great-grandchildren, Jaden Hoskins, Shelby Henry, Dalton Henry, Mia Ford, Adam Wentworth, Kristyn and Levi; her great-great-grandchildren, Westin Henry and Brynlee Henry; her sister, Alice Stella Carr of Greendale, IN and her several nieces and nephews.
In death, she rejoined her father, John Frederick Butters died March 27, 1947; her mother, Hyacinth Eudella (Rayl) Butters, died January 21, 1952; her brothers, James Edwin “Jimmy” Butters, died June 10, 1982, John Frederick “Jack” Butters, died May 29, 1985, Charles Scott “Chuck” Butters, died September 25, 1993, Leslie Lee “Les” Butters, died December 6, 2010 and Raymond Daniel “Buck” Butters, died June 13, 2017 and her sister, Louise Ella Hizer, died May 18, 2014.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, by Bro. Roy Duckworth, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
