The Batesville High School varsity boys basketball team opened the season with a convincing 69-39 win at home against the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 13-6 first-quarter lead and extended it to 26-18 by halftime. A 24-point third quarter broke the game open and gave the Bulldogs a 50-31 lead by the end of the quarter. Junior Cade Kaiser led the Bulldogs with 18 points and five rebounds. Jack Grunkemeyer scored nine points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Sam Johnson and Cayden Drake scored nine points apiece. Trenten Luers and Brayden Maple each added eight points. Luers led the team in assists with seven, while Maple and Grunkemeyer had five apiece.
