The Lady Charger Basketball team opened the 2023-2024 campaign at home on Saturday night, coming away with a strong 67-58 performance over Lawrenceburg.
The Chargers stifling defense held the Tigers to just 6 points through the first 8 minutes of play. On the offensive end, five different Chargers got in the scoring column to extend the lead to 11 at the quarter, 17-6.
Balanced scoring again was the story in the 2nd period, with six different Chargers contributing. Lawrenceburg would knock in a three at the buzzer to go into the halftime break with some momentum, though still trailing 35-20.
After holding the Tigers top scorer (Craig) to just three points in the first half, the sophomore guard knocked in 13 of her 20 points in the 3rd quarter. The Tigers chipped away at the lead and trailed North Decatur 48-39 going into the 4th period.
The Chargers continued to execute offensively despite trading baskets with Lawrenceburg in the final quarter, ultimately sealing the win in the home opener 67-58.
North will play again at home on Tuesday against county foe Greensburg with the JV game beginning at 6 PM.
