Gregory T. Meyer, age 67 of Oldenburg, Indiana, passed away November 3, 2023, at his home. Born April 15, 1956, he is the son of Rosemary (Nee: Bedel) and John F. Meyer.
Greg was a very simple person that was humble and hardworking. He loved his farm and put his heart and soul into it. He took great pride in raising Black Angus cattle. Greg was a good farm manager who learned those skills from his dad.
Greg lived with and took care of his parents until they both passed away. He dearly loved his dog “Bigfoot” who was his constant companion.
One of Greg’s greatest joys each year was hosting the annual Labor Day family outing at his farm. He called it the “Pork Chop Fest” which would go on rain or shine.
He loved a good meal with fried chicken being a favorite. He also enjoyed attending the Brookville Sale Barn.
His siblings stated that Greg was taken away far too soon as he was the youngest of their family.
He is survived by his sisters Shirley Rennekamp of Sunman, Indiana, Mary Moorman of Batesville, and Janet Rehberger of Oldenburg; brothers John Meyer of Greensburg, Indiana, and Harold Meyer of Owensburg, Indiana, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his sister Laverne Goedl and brothers Virgil, Gerald, and Norman Meyer.
Calling will be held Wednesday, November 8th, from 9 – 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Fr. Carl Langenderfer O.F.M. officiating. The burial will be at St. Anne’s Cemetery at Hamburg. Memorial contributions may be given for Masses at the church or the Franklin County Humane Society.
