Millard Carter, 83, Sunman

         Millard Carter, 83, of Sunman passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville with his loving family by his side. Millard was born on Wednesday, May 22, 1940 in Mullens, West Virginia; son of Raymond and Allie (Black) Carter. Millard had his own roofing business where he worked for 30+ years. He enjoyed cutting wood, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Most of all Millard cherished spending time with his family.
Millard will be missed by his spouse of 40 years, Donna Land of Sunman; daughter Deborah (Mark) Messer of Crittenden, Kentucky; step daughters Kimberly (Bob) Joerger of Harrison, Ohio and Denise Land of Kentucky; brothers Harold (Maxine) Carter of Sunman and Bobby (Linda) Carter of Little Rock, Arkansas; sisters Noami Mason of Cleveland, Ohio, Ruth (Steve) Shoureas of Genevia, Ohio, Carol (Charles) Roskuski of Delphi, Indiana, Vicki Schwarpzkopf of Copperas Cove, Texas, JoAnn (Charles) Grant of Bedford, Arizona, Louise (Bill) Gutzwiller of Burlington, Kentucky, Lois Heitfield of Bedford, Texas, and Wanda (Steve) McGlone of Florence, Kentucky; grandchildren Nicole Colen, Jessica Tyson, Caleb Nickel, Rachel Henry, Kathryn Orange, Rebekah Kessinger and Destiny Carter; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Millard was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Allie Carter; son James Carter; brothers Ronnie Carter, Ted Carter, Maynard Carter, and Larry Carter; sister Norma Jean Barrett; and grandson Zachary Carter.
There are no services. Memorials may be given in honor of Millard to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
