Donna V. Doll, age 68 of Oldenburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born April 20, 1955, she is the daughter of Dorothy (Nee: Suttman) and Anthony Doll.
One of Donna’s first jobs was in the Laundry Department at Margaret Mary Community Hospital where she was employed for four years. She then took a job as an assembly worker for Hill-Rom where she worked for 37 years.
After her retirement, she prepared meals for the priests at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, IN where Donna was a lifelong member. The priests appreciated this very much.
As her mother became older Donna took over the tradition of hosting breakfast after Midnight Mass on Christmas Day. The only thing she changed was to use paper products instead of her mom’s good dishes and every year she got “the look” from her mother when the paper products came out on the table.
Donna enjoyed playing softball and was a ten-year member of the Women’s Softball League. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and taking beach vacations. She especially enjoyed it when her nieces and nephews and their children, whom she loved dearly, would join her.
Donna loved dogs and horses and she owned both full-sized and miniature horses. She had a huge circle of true friends that she camped with. She owned a horse trailer and would often bring her horse with her when she camped at many of the Indiana State Parks. These good friends stayed with Donna both day and night during her last days at St. Andrew’s Health Campus.
She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law Mary Ellen Grossman of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Julie and John Eckstein, and Cathy Schene, all of Oldenburg; brother and sister-in-law George and Patti Doll of Oldenburg; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Kathy Doll, and brothers-in-law Leonard Grossman and Fred Schene.
Visitation is Thursday, October 5th, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Fr. Carl Langenderfer OFM officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis or the Holy Family Church.
