(Laurel, IN) – Franklin County will celebrate the second season of community-based gardens next month.
The grand opening of the Growing Laurel Food Pantry and the Community Garden Celebration will take place on Saturday, September 9 at the Laurel Community Center from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
The Lew Wallace Garden Celebration will be held at the Franklin County Government Center on Thursday, September 28 from 5-7 p.m.
Stations with information about community partners will be set up, and activities such as a 4-H animal petting zoo, free hot dogs, cotton candy, Nutrition Education Program Salsa Demonstration, honeybee observation hive, flower arranging, cornhole, and other activities will take place at both events.
These free events are open to the public and sponsored by Purdue Extension Franklin County, Franklin County Public Libraries, the Franklin County Community Foundation, and other community partners and volunteers.
